    Default Flooding

Some very high tides are predicted for to day, Monday and Tuesday. Now the barometer is falling, and if it continues to fall, it looks as if we might have a bit of flooding

Thanks for the warning. I have to drive to Portsmouth to catch a ferry to France this evening so it might be a good idea to leave home early.

No problem; we've got a barrier.

Last night's tide at Benfleet tide made 6.91m .65 over prediction & nearly came in the clubhouse, looking at PLA website the tide could be another big one today.
Heres the link to PLA, pick nearest tide gauge,http://www.pla.co.uk/hydrographics/ltdetail.cfm?id=241,

When we had the flooding back in 2013, the level at Harwich peaked at 5.5m - 4.1 prediction plus 1.4m surge. Last night it peaked at just under 5m - 4.6m + 0.6m surge. The surge prediction is falling away today.

When I got up this morning there was a lot of water on the beach, obviously the tide had been very high. 5.9 is predicted for this afternoon. I see the barometer has risen overnight

I guess you did stay dry - PLA live tide data for Southend shows it peaked at about 6.7m.

Forget the high tides and surges, we had a -0.2m low-tide on Sunday/Monday.
That coupled with a bumpy northerly had me fearing my keel would be thumping the sea-bed . Had just over 1m below the keel.
The barometer was middle-of-the-road, fortunately; a very high pressure could have been a big worry.

I think I shall have to have my mooring block dragged further seawards to give me peace of mind.
