He wasn't wrong. I actually remember the stench of the Queenborough glue factory bone mill, so it was still operating in 1973 when we spent an uncomfortable night there.

Harry Ward Pin Mill20181226_17455981.jpg Got a feeling I scanned this from an early 30's YM.

"I think that Tony Ward’s grandfather was the LNER boatman at Pin Mill. There’s a title! A sort of station master with no station!"

I sure hope Mr. Mason painted that from memory and it's not to accurate...... I confess I don't know a whole lot about supporting monohulls on the hard but I'm pretty sure I wouldn't want to be under that one with the posts at that angle......

Can anyone identify the location depicted in Kukri's poster? (Or is it perhaps generic East Coast?)

Generic, I reckon. The Yacht on the right - against the size of the peeps is VERY large! The scale is a little odd methinks. But nice.

I think it’s generic East Coast - some elements of Brightlingsea hard, Tollesbury gear sheds, West Mersea clubhouse, etc.

And as Roger says, something went seriously astray with the scale of the figures and the ladder.

Mind you, one can be surprised - I thought this calendar, handed out in the Twenties as a giveaway by my former employers, was ‘generic Yangtze Kiang’. It turned out not to be; it was identified as Anqing, in Anhui province, by a current Chief Officer who comes from there.

    Lovely.

I snapped Tony’s moorings fee collection boat in her last resting place shortly before she was cut up - for some artistic purpose, or so Gus told me.

I am rather pleased with this snap, as you probably guessed, but it is a sobering thought that it is dated August 31st 2014

Props would normally be at such an angle.

I would think the OP's poster is Roehedge and Wivenhoe
