Here in the rias de Ares there is a chemical tanker on the rocks,luckily empty but still carrying fuel and oil,Smitthe salvagers arebegining to extract the liquids if the storm we have to day allows,further south in the Ria de Aldan the Guardia civil are pumping out water from a small submarine loaded with cocaine that was caputured at the week end.

According to the news it traversed the Atlantic from Surinam on the latitude of the cape verses then headed up to the rias,a one way trip at a cost of a million euros and a cargo of three tonnes of pure cocaine,worth quite a bit,must of had a tip off

I doubt these reports are credible.
The sub is about 20m long, I would be surprised if it had the tankage and stowage for such a voyage. What would be its cruising speed under water? 5-6 knots?
I’d like to hear from our local submariners here.

Not a true submarine but a low profile boat. Looks big enough to make a crossing to Cape Verde’s and then north to the Rias when you bear in mind it’s a pretty simple design and therefore has space for a comparatively small payload and loads of fuel. However, might it have had a “mother vessel” to tow it part of the way?
