NMEA is (maritime) industry standard, so not manufacturer dependant. I have my C80 connected to Simrad RS82 DSC/VHF; no problem having the lat/lon transferred to the VHF.

Concerning AIS:
The most recent sw for the C## (free to downloaded from Raymarine) is capable to display AIS provided by a third party reciever and connected to the C## via NMEA
