Default Styling trends

What does the team think of the 'pure' styling trend as in the MBY's test of the Fjord 40 or is retro better ?

It's all personal taste so there will never be broad agreement on this, which is fine, but I think that Wally look is beautiful. I also like the look of much of the retro stuff eg Mochi Dolphins discussed on a recent thread. But there again I think the e60 BMW 5 series is beautiful and that Chris Bangle is a genius (tin hat on)

Here's the Wally 118 (which I have been on; the engine room is stunning too. I posted pix a while ago) anchored off Cap Ferrat, with the Ice Cream boat pulling alongside hoping to sell some Magnums at €5 a pop

I think there are merits to both. I think as long as the interior is fresh looking you can like either the Fjord style or say a Hinkly or a Mochi. I saw one of those 43 foot cornish things on the hard at the begining of the season and was amaised at the quality of the build and the overall look of it.

A few other manufacturers are borrowing some of the styling themes from Wally, like this Otam and even the Sealine SC35. I like this style, but I think the Fjord is the best of the bunch in terms of pure aesthetics.

They even do ickle ones, thought this was just dandy.

Personally I think Wally (esque) design is brilliant, doesn't suit UK tastes for sure cus we are brought up on very conservative designs and see little else. This stuff when you really look close though does grow on you and if you see it long enough and then look at something like current crop of flybridges or what ever they look really un cool and outdated, imho anyway.

That Wally is just awesome though you should see it at full chat, eee gad ! its cooking on gas

Euro or world show wise its everywhere little stuff and monster stuff and I doubt it will be too long before you see some of it filter down into mainstream.
