Default Bulk carrier powered by sail?!!

Just been looking at shipais.com.

Pretty surprised to spot this in the middle of Lyme Bay: boat called "Genco Vigour" Bulk carrier, speed 5.5kts, Underway by sail, destination China, ETA 11/03/09 That was around half an hour ago, i.e. 1900 24th January. Wondering what to make of it all - comments anyone?

Here they say she is 'Underway (sailing)' but I dont think they mean being propelled by sails :

Here are a few photos of her - the most recent was apparently taken a few weeks ago in Rotterdam.

Thanks for that. Must say I find it utterly amazing all the information which can be obtained via the 'web' - never knew about that site.

Really interesting, many thanks.

Poodling gently back in ballast at economical speed, more like...

There was a Japanese sail assisted bulker in the early 90's but that experiment came to a sudden end when she was unable to furl her sails and sailed, dragging her anchor, right through the Baoshan Steelworks unloading jetty on the Yangtse....
