Default Excellent Pub Food, Castle Arms, Gosport

I have just discovered this great place for pub nosh. Traditional looking pub, plenty of variety on the menu, excellent. Recommend the roast dinner, or smoked fish platter. Exit (on the road) left out of Gosport (Premier) marina, it is on the left before the ferry.

You must have been desperate; it sells [--word removed--] beer and food and the staff are rude. The chef has also been reported as not bothering to wash his hands after having a riddle.

Also had excellent food here, been many times when berthed at Gosport, quite the opposite from Nightjar - the staff were always friendly, and the manageress knows how to run a pub.

No idea on the chefs habits, but for reasonably priced pub grub, it's a winner.

Good pub at good prices, take care portions can be large. Weekday offers are a cracking price, draft beer is also good. Have been eating in there for a few years now

Take a look at the state of the toilets and ask yourself what the kitchen must be like?
Wild horses wouldnt drag me back to this place

I've been there many times over the years, and found they vary from quite good to awful. From this week's offerings, they are in one of their "Large portions of average food" phases. Wouldn't mind except they are charging higher than average prices (a tenner for a microwaved pie, chips and 2 veg.)

The 'yummy special' more than lives up to its name!! Does lack veg mind. Overall would recommend the pub to people as the food is good at a fair price. The toilets aren't the best, but the chefs in there seem very good! My mum is coeliac and they were more than accomodating.

Have been 3 or 4 times - best after 7 or 8 for atmosphere. The steak and kidney pudding is highly recommended - appears genuine home made food like you don't often find. Fish -e.g sea bass is good too. Draft bitter good.

We have always held the belief that if the toilets in any restaurant are in good condition, clean & tidy, then that is likely to be the condition of the kitchens.
Rarely have we been wrong.

As to the Castle Arms.....................probably one of the better pubs in Gosport............but that wouldn't be difficult.
