Default Hasler Self Steering

hi there
just lay me hot hands on the above with the book let from this site, but still trying to work out all the ropes and other fittings!
any one use a sp unit and if so can you let us know if you will give us a run down on the unit.
ie there is a bar on the front that lifts up with a slide inside it!
what its for?

Congratulations. I have an SP2 on Helix. The only thing that slides up is the mech. to disengage the wind vane from the rest of the gear to allow the windvane to swing freely and thats on the back of the gear. It would not work to describe the workings of it verbally. You need photo's . The descrition given in the downloaded handbook from the jester website is VERY comprehensive but sounds VERY complicated. It became obvious to me once fitted on the yacht. Make sure that the dimensions of (in particular the pendulum depth, rudder connection and adjustment worm) are fitted as per instructions.
Great kit. Took me to 4000 miles last year.
