Default A rubber fetish

Thought that might get you reading it. The reality is far more prosaic.

I need to renew the seals on the top of my diesel tanks, so as to stop the stuff sloshing around in the cockpit lockers every time we go to sea. I can get hold of large sheets of rubber which would be perfect for cutting to size. The question is, are diesel and rubber compatible, or will the diesel turn the rubber into goo which would then drop into the tanks and clog up the filters?
