Rod,

The RYA and BMF were helpfull in getting the MCGA to amend the requirements of life saving equipment for class XII vessels , however I notice that the requirement for fire equipment is still pretty onerous, being far in excess of the Boat Safety Scheme requirements (my boat is on inland waterways), has any move been made to make the fire equipment requirements cruising area dependant? i.e. if on inland ,non tidal waterways then BSS as a minimum?

Also SOLAS V details requirements for radar reflectors , is this regulation cruising area dependant? MCGA staff at LIBS could not answer that.

Thanks for your time

Paul Morris
