Default fouled stern gear

I was aboard a friends boat when a fouled line wrapped round the prop shaft and pulled the engine back so that the engine mountings fractured. Since then I have installed a 6mm rigging wire rope between the bottom of the skeg and aft end of the keel on my Seastream 43 and have run over several lines without problems. Lucky? Probably, but I think it helps.

Hi Hugh,

I have a better set up on my boat. No engine, so no prop, and a rudder stepped into the keelson.

Ah the joys of the simple life.

See ya,

Robbie
