Cool North Wales Frostbite meeting.....

As the winter months draw near and some (not all) put their boats away for the winter there are many who continue to go cruising.

For all those interested and still have use of their boats in the North Wales area please add your name to this thread if your interested in a November meet at Victoria Dock around mid month (dates and tides need looking at)

Personally I'm in and I think a marina is best bet so we can use electric to keep warm.

How about a table in the Chinese there, we tried it a couple of weeks ago and it was fine. We could call it our early Christmas Bash...........

Philiz should be able to get a good few on the rear of their new boat, Mucky Farter is in need of some forum abuse.....which will save on wear and tear on Little Ships decks.

I wonder if Lambarda will turn up or be turned away again for being too big

Tom

Looks like we will finally be able to make one of these gatherings (provided we can get somebody to look after the pets for a night or two).

Count us in! Chinese sounds good too. We can fit a fair few on the back, might be a bit parky though for sitting outside!
I reckon Lambada can be accomodated at Carnarfon, we could start off on MF then move on to Lambada. Mmm, that's probably just made sure Lambadas tender will be making an appearance again!
Lawsy, take yer dog with yer, he'll be warm at night!

It's no probs. With the two M Farter patented patio heaters and the diesel blow around thingy, we'll be warm as toast.

Hi Tom, after a great run out on Saturday down to Port Dinirwic from Conwy my boat is being lifted out next Friday. But we are planning to sail to Doc Victoria in a yacht from Conwy on the 28th/29th November, I hope that ties in with your plans, would be great to have a night out but I appreciate it is probably later than you are hoping for in the month, I will watch the thread develop.
Best regards.

OK there seems to be some interest so lets work to a date to make it easier..

Saturday November the 7th 2009

I think the tides should be OK that weekend without any early or late runs!

Tom

PS Can somebody just check the tides as I have no tide tables with me!

Default newbie/both feet in it

New to forum and North Wales boating but up for the meeting
if appropriate.
Can offer passage (from Menai) to anyone whose boat is out of water - not
benign - may need help finding Caenarvon!

Subject to Debs hospital stuff, any day will do.

If we can get out of Conwy and go to the Prince Madog, that will do, but doubt we can tie up without help. Is the crew there all the time??

Anyone dressed 'normally'

You never dress normally......sandals in the winter hats in the summer

There is only one lock per day at Victoria during the winter period....... jeeze Debs it could all end up at PD and you will have to suffer the steps :-0

Kilter.
The evening of the 14th of November 2009.
When.
Philiz Bar will be unlocked.

Peeps in ridiculous clothes will be drinking ridiculous amounts.

Lots of rollocks will be uttered.

However, there is no particular Start Date.
Or time.

However, there is no particular Finish Date.
Or time.

However, there is a particular Enter Into The Dock Date.
November!

Trundle along anytime between the 13th (blimey its a Friday too!) and bimble back to whencever whenever.

The Best Do's are definately the Not Properly Organised ones.

This one seems to fit That Bill!

Fancy Dress though!
Silly Season and all that.

Oh!

There will be a Natical Quizz too.

So Kilter
'Come on Down'

It's like watching the Golden Shot, this is!

"Forward a bit..."

"Back a bit..."

"...Fire!"

If it's the 14th, and IF I put it in the calendar now, there's a good chance that MrsG and I could attend - need to let you know for sure 1st week in Nov.

Can dab some diesel behind our ears & pick up some bling from Elizabeth Duke if it helps us fit in with youse mobos.

Just how many ounces of gold-effect per limb is de-rigueur these days?

I do draw the line at tatoos, though.

Rather than simply fancy dress, how about themed fancy dress? A kawasaki look a like competion? Grey wigs, boaty shoes / sandals without socks, etc?

Right Mark at Victoria will want to know

1 Name of boat
2 Length of boat

He is very accommodating but we will need to raft up..........so what's new!

I dont think you need to let anyone know. It's just a case of finding the best date for most folk. It'll never be perfect.

Yes, you will need the gold earings and tattoos to fit in, or you'll have nothing to talk about. The conversation is mostly about who's got the biggest one.

I need to be nearest the best stocked drinks cabinet and close to an opening window so bacon sarnies can be handed to me like they were at Conwy. Actually, when I think about it, it was me handing out the butties.

Will MF be on a separate pontoon like usual?

Looks like we will be hutching up to Philiz with a few others on the side. Mind his new boat might look more like a canoe afterwards though!!

Mmm, don't fancy a canoe conversion. Maybe we'll just raft up to MF and LS and trot the dogs along the swim platforms

Well the boats only just round the corner, it's just a question of whether I will be any closer than my usual 110 miles! That depends on family commitments as usual. You'll know me when you see me, but I will have my clothes on.

If we send kwackers round to Garstang (another thread.) maybe we can get another member, a kwackers edukation, might earn some bucks. Thus relieving the drinks cabinet a bit.

Uup's I just noticed, I've passed 20,000 posts. To many boats for far to long.

Left, right, yep thats the bit, Just by the geni and the humiddifier. The hot water tank will keep you nice and warm, we'll unlock you in the morning.

Oh the first prize at the Quiz is a Forum Burgee.

Anybody who arrives without a Forum burgee on show will have to make a small donation to the RNLI..... I think £3.00 is enough of a penalty.

Kwacker will be making one tonight to save a couple of quid.

[QUOTE

14th November 2009 Victoria Dock

Right Mark at Victoria will want to know

1 Name of boat
2 Length of boat

Oops , sorry Tom forgot to give the info.
Presuming you are gonna let Mark know the No.s sizes etc.

BRIZA.

27ft 3 and one half inches. appx.
With sticky out bits inc

No preference ref berth or neighbour.
Me turbo fell apart yesterday
Just sorted a recon for very few drinking coupons!!
Should be fitted in time.

Trying to work out which would be best if She don't run though.
Row Her to Caernarfon or kip in hlb's cellar.
Its a close thing as I type

Hactually if all else fails can you tow Me?
BRIZAS Galley is really working well.
I could whip out Breakfast Sarnies to kill for at an alarming rate.
So thats it then.
BRIZA will be the 'Butty Wagon' come hell or high water.

Kinnel! just thought of summatt.
Lock out Sunday could be quite early, oo err missus
Maybe a Monday exodus is on the cards for some.
There are some I know that don't do 'early'!

Mind you that could be sorted
If I stand on Me foredeck at 08.00 wif me gob iron BLASTING , that should stir most folks.
Then there's hlb

Keep looking in folks for the continuing adventures of Mal, Kwackers and Enid in Mucky Farter cellar!! A whole new meaning to Travel Lodge.

Questions.

1/ Does Dan the man do an x rated version of NFAW.

2/ Will the noise keep us awake.

3/ Is there anything they could do with my humeddifier to make it unfunktunal.

Do we know about numbers yet? I reckon Foo will need to know how many are likely to descend on him. We've noticed he's moved his boat out of PD, but he doesn't get away from us that easily!

Just as long as he can cater for the 'Vast Number of Forumites' then that will suffice.

Mal

and this sounds ominous

Went to look at yer boat yesterday, but were not sure which one, till you posted the pic. Then we got locked in the boat yard, for what seemed like ages.

On release we went for a ride on the little railway. What a swizz, they should be done by trades discriptions, it only went about 30 yards round the back of some houses, then came back. It was just like british rail though, the driver said how difficult it was, because the track was slippy today and took all his powers of concentration.

Hi Guys. Thanks for the call Tom good to speak to you again.

As Lambada will fit into Victoria Dock and as (unlike most) I dont have the benefit of Seafairing Attack Weasels, Pigeons, Budgies etc this would leave me extremely vulnerable and with no excuse to prevent you rabble from actually setting foot on my boat therefore I am afraid I will have to pass on this one.
Sorry! but I do have other plans that W/E but hope you have a great! time.
Cheers
Andy

That's really odd, I hadn't noticed sagiatt's post until now! You are more than welcome to come. If you do take Kawasaki as crew, lock up any booze you may have on board. Your best bet is to give me your key to the liquor the moment you get to Vicki Dock.

Oopps! after all we try and do to introduce people, especially newbies and we all missed the post, Oh dear oh dear oh dear!

Sagiatte....let me apologise for the over site, it wouldn't by any means have been done deliberately. I have sent a private message with a little information that will be required for the dock on the 14th.

Once again sorry for the over site......... I think we should blame H, it's got to be his fault?

So, 2 bottles is on his own and the Major is only a maybe?
If Tom's not about we'll ask James if he's bringing his big raggie.
So, headcount is only 17, Littleship'll be almost deserted

'Friad I'm fairly unlikely to make the 14th at the mo. But I wouldn't be moving round to the dock anyway as I have a paid for berth next door in the river.

Anyway, 3 weeks is a long time in boating (to misquote some politician or other) so we will see what turns up.

So wat we want to know. Were going down to Conway about Saturday the seventh. Mainly to avoid tides in the middle of the night. So maybe go Conwy to Thingy bridge then, P Denorwick. But if conarvon only open one tide, or Denorwick as well. Surely the times have to change from mornings to evening tides at some point..

So 1/ A phone number for Mark, aint found one onthinternet. So what is it.

2/ A phone no for Denorwick. Do they have an evening opening?? Or not.

Being as were not good at getting up in the middle of the night. Has anyone got some reaonable advice.

So, which way should we go from Conwy to Conarvon. Is it up the straites or take the scenic route. Are there any hazzards on the way!! I mean apart from Kwackers.

As a Danger to Navigation (apparently) me self here's what to do!

Straits Mate.

Hactually this next bit of garbage came into My reply to your post about why peeps go nowhere!
Which I just lost cos I got logged off.
So I type quicker!!!

And cut this reply short.

Don't feck off around the scenic route.
Tiss November and it gets ****ty around the top and through the Skerries (inside bit) even though it will be neeps lots of overfalls and stuff.

Saunter to Menai.
Buy me a pint in the Liverpool arms.
Then doodle off to Dinorwic.
Then buy Me a pint in the Gardd Fon.
Then I will meet You in Caernarfon, where

OK, raggie's passage plan:

Need to be at Swelllies 2hrs before HW Liverpool; don't want to go through Swellies in the dark, so need to be there for 07:00 on the 14th. Should be able to make Victoria Dock before it closes. Won't be able to get out of Conwy marina on morning of 14th in time to be at Swellies for 07:00 so it's either out the night before, pick up a mooring in the river then a VERY early start on 14th, or out Friday a.m. and pick up a mooring in Menai Bridge before dark (don't want to be roaming round amongst the fish farms & floating ironmongery after dark). To get back, need to be at the Swellies again for ~07:45 Sun, but hang on, the dock doesn't open 'till then so need to get out the night before... but hang on, it only opens once a day So I need to leave before I've arrived !

Well theres no probs there then. But. I've all ready realised the tide problem. What pillock picked the 14th.

So our solution is to go to the boat tomorrow, then set off some time next week when we can go round at our leasure. Long or short way, aint decided yet. MF is not fazzed about a few poxy little Welsh waves.

Any ones welcome to hitch on the back, then just get dragged around a bit, one way or tother.

It all seems a long time ago, but I think it was a joint decision by several pillocks, which I may, or may not, be one of.

Your quite right, poxy Welsh waves, or any other nationality are seldom much trouble, it's the sodden great lumps of Welsh rock underneath them that are the problem. There might even be a lump with MF written all they way through!

Yer daft bugger, dont yer kerno. MF's built of stronger stuff than steel or diamond's, her props are honed to rock cutting perfection, the smoke would disolve the rocks anyway.

Hey!
It seems most Raggies are coming by road!
Trouble with Commities
To many on the Board

Various Dates were mentioned

Dunno why we landed on the 14th but there it is!
Summat to do with tides and gates and I cant get there that weekend and stuff!

To do with the Moon I think.

Hey!
Talking about the Moon.

A Clue, to part of Me Nautical quiz

The Phases of said Orbiter.
New, Waxing, Crescent, 1st Quarter, Waxing gibous, Full, Waning gibous,Last quarter, Waning crescent.

Yep, I know you guys all know that stuff.
As experienced Nautical Bods.
But check out which phase will be with us on the 14th.

Could win you a Forum flag.
Cept for hlb of course.

Crikey, We need a different prize for hlb, should He and or His crew win the thing

Oh yer, how many days in a Lunar month?

Anyway.

To Searush, yep there are a few rocks around.
I know cos I have charted them all (hit em realy)!

hlb, go all the way round if yer has time.
Sh%te not if you are towing Youghurts though!

Oh just thought.

hlb's prize could be a new Tow Rope.

Avast behind! Stand-by to repel boarders.

Never mind the tow rope, get the brooms, boathook & bucket of slops. DogWatch is trying to muscle in

Some people just let the whole world pass them by & then wonder why they know nothing. I've just had a PM from him asking about the meet. It seems he never looks in on the MoBo forum & is therefore in need of edification.

I have pointed him in this direction & hereby serve warning on the rest of you.

Let battel commence!

Actually, I rreckon he will ge quite a useful gang member, someone to divert the flack off HLB, Kwaka, Little Ship, & me!

Edit
How cool is that; I get to post #200 on this thread. Is there a prize for that Kwaka?
