IMHO, a weighted line is the worst of two worlds. It doesn't have the weight of a chain nor the flexibilty of a proper nylon rode.

I have both 50m multiplait nylon rode with 5m of chain, and 50m weighted line that came with the boat. I far prefer the multiplait and only use the weighted line as a backup.

The multiplait has superior elasticity and is so much more pleasant to handle. Also, I've found that even with the weighted line I still need some meters of chain on the end to reliably set the Fortress.
