About 2" across. As described, "like a chunky lid for a jam jar with a slot halfway across the top where the chain fits". They also have a small lug on with a hole drilled in it to take a small retaining chain or lanyard. You slot the chain in it, put it on the naval pipe & twist to hold it in place against a couple of small lugs on the vertical pipe bit.
