Default River conditions

Following boatone's suggestion, we are going to trial a river condition alert through the forums

The idea being that any registered user can post on this thread (and this thread only for reasons that will become clear) if there is a sudden change in conditions. With the number of people here on the river, this could become a very valuable tool.

If you want to receive alerts, go to the foot of this thread and in the Extra Information panel there is an option to make the thread a 'Favourite Topic'.

If you do this, ANY post to that thread will automatically be emailed to your registered email address. Provided you have a mobile with email capability you will then receive messages as they are posted without needing to visit the website.

This could be a valuable tool and I will clear it out from time to time. However, this thread is not for general discussion and ONLY to report weather conditions so please, do not post here unless that is the case.

If you wish to discuss ways of improving this idea, then please send me a PM or use this thread.

Perhaps no need for an explicit timestamp unless the observation is well before posting as the messages are timestamped.

Marlow reach now quite high this evening. Risen significantly since this morning.

Same level as this morning but very fast. Watched a duck keep her one duckling on her upstream side. BW weir looks full open. Went through Henley at 1700 (by car) and it was high and fast but not looking flooded.

Just spoke with Bray lock. Unlikely red boards come down this weekend. River above Bray still up 3.5 ft. Level slowly coming down. Jubilee open 2 clicks.

I spoke to Teddington (the local Sea Scouts wanted to go out in the boats tonight).

Teddington is still on Red Boards and there is a spring tide so the reach from Teddington to Richmond is still very hazardous.

Good weekend for DIY, boat polishing etc.

No good for boating!

Bray/Boveney reach as fast and high as yesterday. Not good for boating.

All the best
