Default Wind vane steering

Any recommendations gratefully received for wind vane steering for a Nauticat 33 (canoe stern): ideally a separate rudder (not a trim tab) which can double as an emergency rudder.
Thanks

I am a huge fan of Hydrovane. Got one on our Moody 33, done 2 transatlantics with it. Brilliant.

I organised a Hydrovane for my Hillyard (canoe stern) but sold the boat before I got it sorted. I was going to get that particular one because other Hillyard users had fitted them with great success. Hydrovane knew exactly what was needed (brackets etc) and were very helpful although I understand the company is now in different ownership.

Going to fit a Hydrovane to my canoe stern, very expensive but held in high regard.

I can confirm they are a delightful company to deal with, very helpful indeed. I am a very contented customer. Good luck with your installation.

The Norvane by www.selfsteering.com fits around my transom-hung rudder, tho' a smaller boat. There are different sized models available, solid stainless steel, provision for a tiller to fit the paddle, etc and probably getting more value for money as it's in US dollars. I've had 5 years of satisfaction and confidence in it since installation.
