Default How to use the video forum

Hi all,

I've set up this forum to see if there's any desire to share your videos on YBW. This is not a particularly sophisticated mechanism but if you have a video to share then here's how to do it:

1. Find or upload your desired video on youtube/photobucket etc
2. Post as normal in this forum with the URL of the video e.g. http://youtube.com/watch?v=zOd-kXkBzlA in your post and any comment you'd like to make. Alternatively post the embed code which will look something like this <embed width="448" height="361" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" src="http://i35.photobucket.com/player.swf?file=http://vid35.photobucket.com/albums/d164/Sauniere59/TurkeySept2006027.flv">
3. Watch the URL turn into a nice embedded video player (this requires us to do it manually so waiting time will vary!)

For the time being we will stick with boating videos, so please no links to unsavoury material! Each post will be moderated.

Thanks,
Dan

errm well thanks, Dan, why do the video's have to be re posted by yourself, is it some better more easily coped with by MBY format. As it does feel a bit numb to post some video, & then it has to be re done. Sorry to say it also dumbs down whats posted on the motorboat or whatever area, as its a bit tribal !!!

Sorry, our attempts at posting videos has been severely tempered. the music is now banned and the content, innocent as it is. censored. Interest lost.

Can you not allow posting of code, so we can embed it ourselves? I pasted the embed code into one of my video posts, and the moderators just deleted it... It's a lot of work on you guys to have to be doing this too -

Dan,

We'd love to add clips to this forum but you are using Youtube, access to which is banned in Turkey. We can use proxy servers to view clips but it's slow and uploading just isn't practical.

There are plenty of other video hosting sites out there. We use blip.tv because we can upload high quality clips without tampering with the embed code.

Any chance you can open this up to other video hosting sites? And why not take up Nick's idea too? Far less hassle for yourselves.

Regards,

Jamie
