Notice to River Users 10 of 2009

Gig Racing Regatta
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the annual Gig Racing Regatta, known locally as the ‘Hamble River Raid’, will take place within the Harbour on Saturday 9 May 2009.
The main event commences on or around 1200hrs and will last for on or around one hour. The Gigs will race from Hamble Jetty via Bursledon Pool returning to Hamble Jetty. It has been reported that 10 boats will take part with crews of four or six. Safety boats and Harbour Patrol Boats will be in attendance during the race and Harbour Users should be prepared to give way or follow directions from the Patrol Boats.
All mariners should maintain an efficient lookout and navigate with caution.
VHF Channel 68 will be monitored by Harbour Authority, Police launches and other vessels assisting.
This Notice to River Users is self cancelling on Sunday 10 May 2009.
