If this works it could be a sticky or even turn into a gallery who knows
I'll start the ball rolling:
Pixie , 1983, Sadler 32, owned since the end of May 09!
Over to you....

Re: Readers Boats....
I go for small and beautiful
13 foot mahogany on oak clinker dinghy, shown on Windermere, built in mid '50s but the maker is unknown. Probably a one-off as the transom is not symmetrical (!). It's an 11 strake design giving fine lines. Wooden spars, but aluminium centre plate and rudder blade. I've replaced the jib with a newer red one. I also have another wooden mast and a much larger red mainsail which I am planning to convert to a lugsail so I'll have a choice of rigs.
My project trimaran shown on Coniston. Based on a 10ft ply skiff I was given the outriggers are made from 3mm ply and suspended on 10ft alloy poles. The unstayed mast is a combination of a Topper alloy bottom section and a sailboard mast for the top sections. The sail is a full Laser. It has a removable leeboard and the rudder is from a Phantom dinghy operated by a lever system so that I can face forward whilst sailing. It's an ongoing project as something usually breaks each time out. The last breakage was the mast step, so the next problem, now that is reinforced, may be a vast overpowering and pitch-pole.
I may sell it this year as I have less time to fiddle about.

1972 Halcyon 27. it's been to the USA and West Indies, that's more than me
June now and still not in the water yet, and I see no prospect at the moment with work. To sell or not to sell that is question, is it better to she her sailing with someone else, or just sitting in the yard.
This is a hard life.

Unfortunately Sir, you are incorrect.
Fortunately there are as may boat designs as there are opinions on what makes a pretty boat.

Seeing how popular this thread has been, I've just put up a
Reader's Boats gallery where you can see all the images here, all resized and some have been tweaked for colour and cropping. I'll also be adding any photos from here to the gallery periodically.
If you want to Email your pic for inclusion send it to
graham_snook@ipcmedia.com 800px x 800px only though please and I'll add them to the gallery when I can

Ta ... no the weight of the camera didn't cause any of the nosedives - it was a breezy day and all the boats were doing it - if anything the camera made it more stable down wind by putting some more weight aft!

Peanuts - our Oyster 26
Here she is at anchor on 11 July this year, in Port Mor on the Isle of Muck.
She's 26ft and one of only 50 odd ever built (back in 1979) before they decided they were making them too well and couldn't make money on them. Designed with the IOR rules in mind, she remarkably quick and roomy for her length and frequently overtakes larger boats going in to wind.
(Just about to put the anchor ball up, honest).

Unfortunately Sir, you are incorrect.
Fortunately there are as may boat designs as there are opinions on what makes a pretty boat.
Can't beat a Co32 though..... and anyone who disagrees is just wrong

Erm, hate to admit I'm one of those still watching this thread
Any chance you could post that pic in the slightly larger format allowed here ?
Even without my specs I can see it's a bloody nice pic, but it would be even nicer if I didn't have to put the specs on to see it properly

"Carise" - my much loved long-keeled MacWester Rowan 22 from 1971: still going strong. She was originally supplied and registered to a Mr Upton of St Albans; then briefly transfered to a Mr Randall of Radlett in July 1974 before coming into the ownership of a Michael Draper of Potters Bar and Marion Andrews of Wood Green in January 1975; A M.Whitticombe of Bristol was the owner in 1999 and a J.Barrington of Chelmsford owned her around 2001. I don't have any records between 1975 and 1999!
I bought her in Bursledon Bridge in Jan 2005 from a Mr Layfield of Suffolk, and brought her around to Cardiff. At some stage "Carise" was renamed "Coconut", but I gave her back her original name.
If anyone has any more history of my lovely yacht I would love to hear from you.
Paul
