Default Past Teddington - advice pls

Hi

I use a RIB on the tidal Thames and usually just bat about coming up as far as Richmond on the flood and return to hammersmith with the ebb.

Similarly we have been the other way down to the Thames barrier and back. Thats the extent of my small boat Thames action - more frequently i just go Chiswich way or to the embankment to have a run out.

Last Sunday i got to Teddington and wondered about trying the non tidal bit.

Whats the score as PLA control the river to this area and Inland waterways thereafter. Does my boat need coding, licenced or painted a funny colour etc to use the non tidal bit.

Ditto me - the skipper?

FWIW on sunday I had one of the best jouneys ever - no rowers at all and one pax vessel. River was empty of used craft. All at Henley making ready?

1. Drive boat into lock
2. Tell lockstaff you need a visitors licence
3. Come and buy licence
4. Leave lock.

Job done.

Have a read of this ...

http://www.environment-agency.gov.uk...ing/31609.aspx

If you then download the 3rd PDF down , it has a conversion chart of feet to inches on page 5 and on page 6/7 it has the prices for visiting boats ( daily rate , 15 day rate and 31 day rate )

All we'd ask when you come upriver , especially being a RIB is that you take it easy , the river is a very different place to the tideway and the wash can be a pain ( even if you are travelling at the correct limit sometimes )

See you soon.

Thanks for the link.

So looks like a £7 hit at Teddington for a six day pass. I assume that this is consecutive days? or can i use the days throught the 'season'?

What does the fee cover? Lock management i guess?

It doesn't 'cover' anything

It's just your entry fee to let you use the river for 6 days.

No it pays for a very nice glossy magazine called "River Views" to tell us all how wonderful the EA are...

£7 for six days ?

I don't think there is a licence that cheap , cheapest is a one day for under 10 sqM and that is £11.50 .... the days are consecutive.

Best thing you can do is have a chat with us when you come into the lock .
