Default Herman Mellville but not that Moby Dick tripe

I was bowled over by his three true story's.Typee,Omoo & White jacket but they have frontispieces where academics run him down saying that they are fiction & Typee is categorized at least in Fareham Library as fiction. What a travesty.Certainly he fell out with the establishment when he described the work of missionary's in the South seas but does his work deserve this insult?I will leave you to decide.
