Default NASA HF3 Weatherfax software

Hello,

Am thinking of buying the NASA SSB receiver as my old Yaesu FRG7700 is just too big to find a space for and uses a fair bit of power.

Have just read the NASA manual online and their fax software runs in DOS!!! So many years have passed since I last used DOS that this alone is off putting.

Question - does anyone have experience of using the NASA software, and if so is it worth getting at £30 for CD plus audio cable? (Can easily make up the latter)

Incidentally, I have used the demo version of JVcom32 and find it does all I need without fuss or any setting up so am thinking of registering this.

Advice based on experience will be appreciated. Thanks.

No experience of the NASA software but I use MScan Meteo with the NASA HF3 receiver to get weatherfax over HF. Fairly straight forward but results are a bit hit and miss. Normally tune into Hamburg - Pinneburg, from East Med.

Cheaper than the nasa on ebay (55 quid I think it was) and seems a much better radio, lots of memories. jvcomm software is free for weatherfax, works for me.
