Merc 5.7 EFI
Hi, I'm toying with the idea of selling the 17ft Bayliner Capri Bowrider this winter and am currently looking at a few cuddy's itro 20ft.. A guy's got in touch selling a Glastron fitted with a V8 5.7l EFI engine (350 variant?) and I'm asking him for more specific details.
The boat itself looks fine but I'm a little concerned about the engine as those knowing my 'learning curve' since getting the Bowrider in June shows I'm more than willing to roll the sleeves up and get stuck in to fixing things, engine or otherwise. That's all well and good for a basic inline 4 Merc fitted to the Bayliner but I would need to do some serious research on fixing the V8 lump should it need work doing in its lifetime with me and what I can see, parts are far more expensive, right? Then there's the difference in running cost, would it be significantly more, if so, what benefot would I have for a small 20ft cuddy, if any?
I'm in absolutely no rush to change the boat but if something comes along that I think will be of benefit over winter and the coming season(s), I'll probably go for swapping out the BR.
Thanks in advance for the advice and I'll post up more details when they come through regarding the boat as a whole.
