Default Lost cap

The anchor chain on my Westerly 33 goes through the deck via a vertical pipe (I can't remember the name!). There should be a cap to the pipe but I have lost it. Does anyone know where I may be able to find a replacement?

Spurling pipe, navel pipe, or chain pipe.

Trafalgar Yacht services http://www.westerly-yachts.co.uk/ have this type of thing

complete and in two sizes.

Maybe worth contacting them. If anyone knows where to get what you want they will.

Notwithstanding VicS suggestions above, have you tried the Westerly Owners Association? They might be able to point you to a supplier similar to your original?

Good thought to try the owners club, I will do that too, Thanks.
My cap is not like that shown in the picture. The pipe is vertical and the cap looks like a heavy duty jar top with a slot in it.

If you find one, Allan, please let me know (PM ideally) as the lanyard on mine broke at sea as I was sorting it out on leaving an anchorage. I have not been able to find one anywhere - although I haven't asked Trafalgar I have checked their site.

BTW the bottom of a plastic milk bottle will fit well & jams firmly in place. If you keep a couple of spares handy you won't give a toss when one slips over the side or blows away when not fitted. But it would be nice to have the real thing again!

Would the emergency fuel caps sold at service stations or Halfords fit?

Like this Flexicap

I had one on our Konsort to feed the chain directly down from the windlass.

It had a slot cut into it for the chain.

Default Lost Cap

I too lost my cap. It was my favourite.

Tan coloured Murphy and Nye baseball cap lost as I was working on the foredeck off St Vaast in 2005 in big seas. If anyone has found it, I'd be very grateful to have it back.
