Having spent the last few weekends doing other things I have
finaly managed to get a day on the boat.
I have had an enjoyable sail down to Felexstowe Ferry and back.
Now sat in the cockpit digesting a cornish pasty, the sun is shining there is a light beeeze blowing.
Not many boats left on the moorings now.

I will have to get her off the water soon as there is quite a job list to attend to over the winter and it will be easer to do with her just outside the back door.
If it wasn't for that I would be very tempted to leave her afloat for the winter.

No pics no cruise

We're staying in this winter, just to try it out. Most of the jobs I want to do are down below and more easily done next to a pontoon to be honest.

It will be interesting to see if we are able to catch any of those bright and sparkly mid winter sailing opportunities that pop up from time to time or if we just spend it chipping ice off the decks

No cruise planned - just a laid back sort of day.
Didn't even have a camera with me.

Had a chat with George (Ramsholt Harbour Master) as I was packing the dinghy away.
He said that the moorings are no worse in the winter that the summer.
40 knts wind against tide last Sunday must have been interesting.
Sirenia seemed no worse for it.
The only issue would be ice if there is a freeze.
May stay in next year with January and February in the Tide Mill.
I will have to have a chat with the insurers.

Most of my jobs are down below but I find I have more time to do them when she is 2 steps from the back door rather than a 1 hour car ride away in the middle of a river.

I see that George has a mention in dispatches in December's YM.

Also first time for over a month, but we didn't go anywhere.

There was the most horrendous quantity of sloe bird poo on deck which took over an hour with the jetwash to get rid of.

Calmed down now with reference to the sails, and have just written off Dolphin Sails as a retail organisation. Breathe in, breathe out.

Fitted snazzy new red/white lamp in the heads, and spent an hour cleaning the fridge.

Started on the jobs list as well, which is very lengthy this year, and I have a pile of kit to fit already.

Almost no one was sailing this weekend on the Crouch/outer Blackwater/ Colne. It felt like the first of the winter weekends - lovely winds and no one about.

We went up to Pyefleet - I think we saw 2 sails the whole way. Pyefleet was gorgeous in the afternoon sun - only one other anchored, and he left in the evening. Sailed back on Sunday. Bumpy coming out of the Blackwater, but then a super calm run into the Crouch. There were no sails at all on the Blackwater/Colne and the first we saw on the Crouch was a racing fleet within sight of Burnham.

And we got the engine running without overheating!!

A VERY satisfactory weekend on board.

Next week will be the real test when we actually leave the mooring for a proper run.

I took some pics so must have had a land cruise on Sat - great day on the boat clearing out gear ready for the refit. Ordered all the electronics for what I think is a good deal including an active radar reflector so be interesting to see how visible I become along with AIS on the chartplotter. May all be a bit high tec for me too!

I have ended up ordering the NASA clipper range rather than going for the Nexus kit like Clive's mainly as I couldn't see anywhere on my hull to fit the 'tri'ducer where it is sort of looking down at the sea bed to measure the depth. At least this way I can have the depth inside the hull and the log sticking out at an angle. Now need to find a suitable through hull for the log - something along the lines of the B&G one I am replacing would be nice.
