Hello everyone. This is my first post & I wish it was made under happier circumstances.

This week, I had a phone call from a well-spoken woman claiming to represent the marine sector of a very large and famous UK based company.

For £5,000 she offered me a 3-page spread article on my company & its services services in a limited edition publication aimed at superyacht buyers, owners and builders.

Its a scam so be aware and if contacted perhaps advise your local people that deal with phone soliciting scammers.

Please pass this on.

John

The directory entry scam has been around for years in various guises. There is the one where the directory doesn't exist and they just disappear with your money. Another involves printing a small number of copies of a directory that no one will ever read. A common one in the past was for a company to receive a document that appeared to be an invoice for an entry in a directory. In very small letters it said something like 'This is what an invoice would look like...'. The hope is that as a fairly small amount it would be signed off by someone junior without bothering to check it was correct.
