0545 Thursday 25 May 2006 having just cleared Troon Harbour on passage for Ireland in 11meter Stormforce Rib with Twin drives. Had just started to power up onto plane when I saw a patch of floating seaweed in the water right in front of vessel but by time I had depowered the engines I had ran over the weed and ended up with a 9meter piece of rope around the starboard prop. The rope was about 20mm thick and had two hard eyes spliced into each end.
Managed to remove rope but on later inspection it had damaged drive casing taking a 2 inch lump of metal of the top of the skeg. Boat is only 1 month old and lucky not to have done the prop in.
