After spending last year ashore waiting for appropriate weather for epoxying and many other jobs she was relaunched last November and last Thursday as the tide was in I finally took her out for a quick spin. Big disappointment as there is bad vibration from the prop' shaft. Spent £200 on a prop' overhaul and rebalace so don't think it's that. I've never had it before so am mystified as the prop' shaft is a high strength alloy and unlikely to have suddenly have bent itself! I'm hoping something has wrapped itself around the prop' in the five months she's been in her berth and will free off. Can't really afford another lift out just yet. Replaced rear cutless bearing and fitted new PSS shaft seal but neither could cause this degree of vibration. On a more interesting note, did some speed/consumption trials while out and returned these figures. Displacement 14 tons. WL length 33.5 feet 300 hp @ 2800rpm 3:1 box 2850 rpm 70litre pre hour 12 knots 2400 rpm 45 lph 10.5 knots 2200 rpm 36 lph 10.2 knots 2000 rpm 30 lph 9.8 knots 1800 rpm 23 lph 9.2 knots 1600 rpm 18 lph 8.4 knots 1500 rpm 16 lph 8.2 knots 1200 rpm 12 lph 7.1 knots 8 knots seems quite a pleasant speed! Can't think why anyone else would be interested though!
