Incl/exc Tax
      11/05/2008 21:53

Hi,

When you see a price for a boat thats for sale and it says excl. tax I'm assuming that this means that the VAT has not been paid on that boat.
Am I then correct to assume that the boat is in fact illegal in EU waters?

It's almost like it a suit yourself thing - pay it if you want but if you don't think anyones going to check up on you don't bother!

Has anyone had any difficulty selling a boat that isn't VAT paid due to its illegal status? or do they tend to leave it for the first 18 months which i think your are allowed befroe VAT is paid - I guess this maybe why most never get paid!

Similarly with CE mark - don't see that mentioned hardly anywhere although it is a requirment for foreign boats operating in EU waters.

Thanks
Jeff
