I have a dark blue hull and it looks fab. If you are comfortable (money wise) then go for it. I have found Awlgrip not to be as hard as it is made out to be and a 5-8 year respray is the norm. It's not cheap. In fact next time mine is due I will look at a white re-gelcoat perhaps...
Salt deposits do show up in day to day use of course.
