Never bin an Epson! they are all fitted with an ink counter chip, this is set to fail after a certain period of time. The gits do this to make you buy another, but it can be reset easily. This sounds like another problem though, but if it comes up on your maintenance screen that the printer needs service parts, its the ink counter.
Download the FREE software to fix the epson printer chips - ie reset them.
