A post in the thread in the lounge about burial at sea talked about how someones boat refused to start and the electrics didn't work on the day of their funeral, yet afterwards it started perfectly, and the mechanic couldn't understand why.
Do you have a special relationship with your pride and joy?
With mine, she always starts first time while I'm at the helm - if someone else tries to move her, she plays up a bit for them, and after a few strange movements when others have tried a go at the helm, I've decided she doesnt like being driven by anyone other than me... For example I'll be driving along at a good speed, I'll swap places with someone to give them a go and the engine will grumble a bit and the speed varies, whereas it was previously at a fixed speed while I was driving
I spend 2 hours after every trip out washing my boat, and we've become very attached - have you ever found something with your own boat that gives it that 'alive' feel?
