Just visited my boat and on opening the doors there was a distinct smell of what I can only describe as a strong bilge like smell. Having checked said bilge was dry and not stinking I focussed on the Jabsco toilet (no header tank by the way) couldn’t see an obvious problem here either i.e no obvious leaks around the toilet itself or pipe work to hull. Where do I look next?
I have seen others comment that it could be a build up of scale / calcium in the pipework/bowl and then on the benefits of flushing the system with White Vinegar .Is this an option? Another hint I’ve picked up is to descale with muriatic acid but where on earth do I get that from in the UK ( its bad enough getting a two packets of asprins fom Boots ) , would diluted cement cleaner ( 30% HCl) from the builders centre be Ok to defur the pipes ?
