We may have been one of the boats in your way.....
Going stern to into the berth which is in the main fairway soon after the entrance, all was well despite strong wind from s'board, until I saw a ladder floating in the berth.
I paused half into the berth, the wind caught the boat and I was being swept fast to port, with an anchor threatening my gunwhale. The only thing I thought to do was go forward out of the berth, rapidly. Just as 3 boats came round under the bridge. They skillfully avoided me, but by now I was heading towards the bridge and I really struggled to turn the boat back into the wind in the traffic jam.
A kind sole retreived the ladder and I went into the berth forwards for ease, glad to be tied up with no damage. They helped me tie up too.
Others were in random berths just glad to be tied up.
If anyone's lost a ladder its on the hose box behind berth B06.
But just think inland not so newbie, not long ago I think it was you with posts saying you didn't want to go into a lock even on a still day? If you ended up in the right berth yesterday, you did well, the loops and multiple attempts showing you know your boat and when things aren't right. Time to change your forum name I think.
