Right thanks for all your previous help with my many, many questions regarding finding a new boat. We've gone looked at a boat tonight which I am happy with and just trying to convince SWIMBO about, but had some technical queries.
Were looking for a general solent / southcoast over nighter for 2 capeable of doing the channel a couple of times a year (in convoy and a good day) likewise cornwall etc...
Something fairly stable and more semi dis than full planning hull. were quite happy cruising at 15kn.
It ticks all of our boxes is a 3l merc 4 pot with outdrive which seems the most reasonable option for these set ups.
Firstly what's the general opinion of these models.
Secondly -
The power steering pump in the starboard bilge, the bracket for this has completely dissintergrated at the base of the bracket just leaving the whole thing flopping about and a pile of rust on the floor with the remains of the bracket. not sure what could have caused it, it's only self tappers in the floor so it can't be electrolosis? perhaps flooded bilge left to long??? Is this a common problem? is it something i need to worry about or simply replace and re-locate - If so where do i source a new one from and how much?
A few of the windshield bolts are missing but looking through the holes i can't see any hole or thread going in to the dash where the bolt would have been - would these have been special trim clips of just self tappers!?
Then there is just a small hole (Thubnail size appears to be airbubble weakness) near the starboard strut on the bathing platform which i presume can just be epoxied?
The rest of the boat is in pretty good solid order.
Any contstructive advise or opinions, especially on this rusted bracket and he general model will be sea trialing and lift out and scrub - no survey unless something suspicious found.
