Last Sunday, when berthing, my starboard engine suddenly stopped. Got a warning on the EVC : "check shift actuator". Now, engine won't start up. Can't seem to get rid of the fault, it comes up every time I want to start the engine.
VP manual says : "Cannot engage gears. Engine in emergency mode". I'm "advised" to contact my VP workshop.
Engines are D4-225 with only 58 hours.
Any help / advice with respect to this error ? What causes it, what can be done ? Much appreciated before I run to my nearest VP dealer.
As if that was not enough, my new Navman 8084 plotter causes problems too, starting up over and over again, not getting past the first diagnostics screen. Removed it from the dash this evening, has to be sent back for repairs.
Seems I won't be going out this weekend. Bloody electronics
