Whooops, I would have sweared that Volvo had specific dials for trim - maybe used to be like that on older models?
Well, the idea of getting rid of the sensors applies regardless.
As you also said, you can actually feel when the position is right.
Looking at the wake shape can also help optimizing the trim position, much more than any indicator.
