Hahaa - that's a very good point which I missed out!  Across the channel / North Sea...
I'm not sure what the usuall 'first timers' route is...?
Ramsgate - Dunkerke? Harwich - Oostende?
I keep the boat on the River Stour, so Harwich is right on my door - but that seems like rather a large gap, from Harwich to Oostende.
As for equipment, we're quite well kitted out - she's quite a seaworthy, well maintained boat. Good space below for 3 plus a load of food, or 4 with less supplies. I think 3 would be a better idea.
I have looked at the charts aroud Ramsgate / Thames estuary and there does seems to be an absolute maze of sandbanks to run into...
