Firstboat to offer multi-site classifieds and auction
By IBI Magazine / Ed Slack
US-based FirstBoat, an online resource for both new and experienced boat owners, has partnered with MarineListings, a marine portal providing the latest technology and marketing tools to sell and purchase marine products on the Internet, to offer the industry a classified advertising and auction services for boat brokers and dealers. The partnership allows FirstBoat, through its website www.firstboat.com, to provide thousands of boats for sale to their visitors. FirstBoat's new service allows individuals, manufacturers, dealers, and brokers to list boats or marine products for sale or auction, complete with pictures and descriptions, as well as streaming video. When an advertisement is placed at the FirstBoat site, it also appears on the entire MarineListings network of boating sites, giving the seller more exposure than if they had placed an ad in any single advertising venue. Andrew Canepari, the website's founder, stated, "We spent a lot of time analysing the build-or-buy model for classified ads, and decided to go with a partner that gave us the best of both worlds. With this partnership, we have our own brand of classifieds and auctions, as well as an instantaneous, and current, database of thousands of boats for sale and for auction."
