"All ashore that's going ashore" Day 8 Collins Stewart London Boat Show
"All ashore that's going ashore" shouted the DLR platform attendant as visitors alighted at Custom House for Excel; it seems even the train workers are getting into the swing of the boat show.
Did you know when you negotiated the busy doors of Excel this morning you missed some vital navigation markers. Graham Snook, Yachting Monthly and MBM photographer pointed out to me this morning that the main entrance is well marked by safe water marks placed by the automatic doors, followed by preferred channel markers either side by the ticket gates and finally port and starboard marks guiding you onto the main boulevard; very clever.
After the late night opening last night the boat show is winding up again for another day. Last night the South Hall was a hive of activity. On the Sunseeker stand a huge crowd gathered to see the live band featuring the star (well the bouncer/drummer so I'm told) from the film the Commitments. It was a more civilized affair next door on the Fairline stand as they celebrated 40 years; visitors sipped pink champagne accompanied by a string quartet.
