Fjord 40 gets a makeover
Fjord are back with an improved version of the exciting 40. The major change is a small mid-cabin berth, courtesy of a new raised coachroof and a bit of jiggling around with the interior. The result is a proper four berth cruiser as well as a jaw-dropping piece of powerboat design.
Adding to the cruising comfort, the main forward cabin also wins a useful seating area while that new coachroof has the knock on advantage of allowing the foredeck to be used as a sunpad.
To gain the extra cabin, the interior has had to encroach further aft and sadly this means the large lazarette we really liked on the Mk 1 boat has now disappeared, replaced by a small hatch into the bilge. Back to the positive, anchor retrieval appears to have been improved with a redesigned locker system.
The best news is that, even with all these changes, the Fjord 40 still looks the part and don't forget that there will be a hardtop version appearing later on this year.
