Entries are now open for the 2014 Sail for Gold Regatta - a testing ground for Olympic and Paralympic future stars

Entries have now officially opened for the 2014 Sail for Gold Regatta and keen applicants can get a discounted entry fee if they sign up before Friday 2nd May. All other entries must be received by Friday 23rd May 2014.

Held annually at the Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy, which hosted all of the sailing events during London 2012, the Sail for Gold Regatta has traditionally been an early test for sailors wishing to go on to represent their country at the Olympic and Paralympic games.

This year, eight Olympic and three Paralympic classes will compete across five race courses as part of the newly-formed 2014 EUROSAF Champions Sailing Cup and organisers say they are expecting a number of high-profile sailors to attend.

John Friend, EUROSAF Secretary General, said he was delighted that Sail For Gold had become part of the series: “Olympic sailing took on a new dimension following the London Games, with new ideas and equipment being introduced. The EUROSAF Champions Sailing Cup, including the Sail for Gold Regatta, is an import component in the build-up to Rio 2016 for sailors.”

“The EUROSAF Champions Sailing Cup is the most significant development in Olympic Sailing for many years, bringing together five disparate regattas into one single competition.
