Four people were rescued by Wells Lifeboat after their fishing boat suffered engine failure off Burnham harbour.

The 16 metre fishing vessel, called Audrena, developed fuel problems and lost power during a fishing trip.

A RNLI lifeboat was launched at 12.15pm on Tuesday (06 October) to help rescue Audrena, which was situated one-mile north east of Bridgridle buoy, off Burnham Overy Staithe.

John Mitchell, a spokesman for Wells Lifeboat, said: “The lifeboat took the vessel under tow and headed back to Wells harbour. There were four crew on board and no-one was hurt in the incident.

“The vessel was towed back into the harbour at 3.30pm, when there was enough water in the channel, and she was safely attached to a mooring buoy.”
