Receive free emails and SMS texts containing useful weather and tidal information in the run up to the race

Raymarine, race partner of the JPMorgan Asset Management Round the Island Race, is giving competitors the opportunity to receive free emails and SMS texts containing useful weather and tidal information in the run up to the race.

The race, which takes place this year on 23 June, attracts some 1,600 boats making it the third largest participation sports event in the UK.

Using renowned marine meteorologist Chris Tibbs, Raymarine will be providing daily weather briefings from 20 June, enabling crews to see the developing weather patterns up to the start of the race. Chris will also present a full and detailed weather briefing at the Island Sailing Club at 5pm on 22 June for competitors and the club race officers and safety boat crews. He will use Raymarine’s award-winning RayTech RNS 6.0 navigation software to demonstrate the weather forecast for the following day, complete with the progression of tides, currents, wind speed and direction for the Isle of Wight and surrounding waters.
