Ellen MacArthur and her rock star crew are tied for second place as Roland Jourdain and his Sill crew turn on the style

The gales that forced the cancellation of the scheduled offshore race to Shoreham on Monday night, had moderated sufficiently by late afternoon yesterday, to squeeze in the third race of the Tropheé Coralia.

A bone-chilling 20-25kn breeze whisked the compressed swell and heavy chop as the competitors lined up at the start of the 10nm Olympic triangle course. Jourdain’s Sill continued her startling form and rounded the windward mark first, followed by Bernard Gallay’s Voila. Ellen turned Kingfisher in third.

That’s pretty much how it stayed for the rest of the race. Ellen retains her third spot overall because she has two second places to Gallay’s one but it’s altogether too close for anyone’s liking.
