Officers have released the victim’s name after her body was discovered at Sawley Marina over the weekend

Police have named the woman found in the water at Sawley Marina as Mrs Jennifer Key of South Yorkshire.

The 64-year-old’s body was discovered at the Leicestershire marina on Sunday evening at around 10.21pm.

An area was cordoned off to allow for forensic examination and this has since been lifted.

A post mortem examination has been carried out and further tests are being conducted.

A 65-year-old man was arrested in connection with the incident and has since been released on police bail pending further enquiries.

Detective chief inspector Mick Graham said: “We continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the death and events leading up to it, our enquiries are ongoing and we would urge anyone who may have been at the marina between 11pm Saturday 4 April and 11pm Sunday 5 April and hasn’t yet spoken to the police to come forward.

“If you have any information which you believe may be able assist us the please get in touch and call 101, quoting incident 588 of April 5.”
