Dorset Police are appealing for information after two men tried to steal a boat in Christchurch.

Officers have released CCTV images of the two suspects in a bid to identify them following the attempted boat theft on 4 July.

In the footage, two men can be seen entering a garden that backs onto the River Stour on Beaulieu Road via a rubber dinghy, before trying to steal a blue and white rowing boat.

The suspects attempted to launch the boat but it was swept along the river before they could enter it.

One of the men can be seen wearing a blue t-shirt with a white pattern on the front and beige shorts, while the other man wore a T-shirt that was white on the front, black on the back and black trousers.

Christchurch police sergeant Scott McFarland said: “I am now able to release CCTV images of two people I would like to speak to in relation to this incident.

“I appreciate the images of the suspects’ faces are not very clear, but they are wearing distinctive T-shirts, which I hope someone may be able to identify them from.”
