Raymarine takes award for its work supporting Shelley Jory in her Honda Formula 4 Stroke 225hp powerboat Team Raymarine

Raymarine has been honoured as Sponsor of the Year in the RYA Powerboat Racing Gold Awards ceremony, which took place at the De Vere Royal Bath hotel in Bournemouth on Saturday 3rd February.

The 2006 RYA Powerboat Racing Gold Awards ceremony celebrates the champions of the 2006 season, covering all the classes from junior class champions through to world record holders including eight-times world champion Steve Curtis.

Raymarine was awarded the Official Sponsors Award for its work supporting Shelley Jory in her Honda Formula 4 Stroke 225hp powerboat Team Raymarine. The company has sponsored Shelley since 2003. Raymarine stepped in to help Shelley after she had a horrendous crash in her V24 powerboat at Cowes. Desperate to get her boat re-built and re-equipped within a month in order to get to the finals, Raymarine immediately supplied her with a brand new GPS and radio. From that, the sponsorship grew, and the company is now title sponsor for Shelley and her navigator Libby Keir, providing equipment, product training, technical support and encouragement at all their events.

Fiona Pankhurst, International Marketing Communications Manager at Raymarine, who received the award on behalf of the company said, “We are delighted to have been honoured with this award. Over the last thirty years, Raymarine has worked with many people across a variety of projects, helping them realise their dreams and ambitions. We are proud to support Shelley in Team Raymarine. It is a true partnership with both parties benefiting greatly from the agreement. We wish Shelley and Team Raymarine all the best for the 2007 season.”
