Girlfriend told police he bragged about pocketing the insurance money
A captain who allegedly sank his own yacht to claim the
insurance money has been arrested after his girlfriend turned him in.
Robert Figueredo was arrested on a grand theft charge nearly
three years after his 80ft yacht Star One
went missing, reports the Daily Mail.
The Florida man reported the yacht as stolen in May 2009.
She was found a day earlier scuttled off the Bahamas. Figueredo swore he had no
idea what happened to the yacht or who could have taken her.
If convicted, Figueredo could spend up to 30 years in
prison.
