Route Planner
Virtually all the European Crown Blue Line bases can be reached by car. Planning the route for the journey therefore becomes essential, and one of the easiest and quickest ways is to visit the web sites put up by some of the leading automobile associations.

Within these various sites are some very sophisticated programs which can plan your route for you. Simply enter your departure and destination points in the field boxes prompted on the page and within a few moments the entire route plan is revealed. A printable map of the route is provided as well as minute by minute breakdown and route itinerary of how the journey should proceed. This itinerary can be printed off too and you’ll find the route descriptions highly detailed and down to nearest yard, minute and name of street.

All these route planners can offer either the fastest or the most direct route and whatever route is chosen it will be concluded with the total distance to be covered and the total time the journey will take. This information helps enormously when booking for ferry times. The route planners will also estimate the total cost of tolls for the journey, and if necessary, devise routes to avoid all tolls.

In addition to your route plan you will need to know the various speed limits within each country. "Drive Alive!" is a web site which addresses these issues for all grades of road. It even informs you of the alcohol limits in each country. The site goes on to inform you of any driving laws exclusively native to a particular country, and gives good advise on breakdowns, hotel accommodation, insurance and financial security.
